WHAT ARE THE RELATED FIELDS FOR ECE GRADUATES WHICH HAVE A GOOD SCOPE FOR JOBS AND FUTURE PROSPECTS?

Electronics is now part of our everyday life, from the mobile phones to televisions, computers and even the high-end advanced satellites that are helping us to lead a smooth life. Ever since the evolution of technology, Electronics and Communication has become an essential discipline which is required by all the industries. Hence, Electronics and Communication engineering is one of the most sought after branches by students. Electronics and Communication Engineering has also penetrated into other areas like healthcare, instrumentation, automation, remote sensing, signal processing etc.

About the ECE department:

The Department has always been on a high growth path and has experienced and dedicated faculty with strong commitment towards engineering education who work with zeal and enthusiasm to provide a vibrant and optimum learning environment to the students in order to help them excel in today’s competitive environment. The department also focuses on infusing confidence in the minds of students and to develop them as entrepreneurs. It develops expertise for consultative activities by providing opportunities for industry – institute interaction. It is also constantly upgrading the technical expertise for producing competent professionals to cater to the needs of society and to meet the global challenges. The Department has a very strong Board of Studies committee to look after the academic activities. The department has got every facility to groom the students as per the demands of the industries and MNCs. The Department has good infrastructural facilities, full-fledged laboratories with well-equipped hardware and software which improves the practical working competency in the students.

The department aims at educating and training students with sound knowledge and awareness in the latest trends in Electronics and Communication Engineering. The department is granted with good number of sponsored projects/faculty development programs/seminar grants from the funding agencies. We can proudly say that the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is NBA Accredited. The students in the department have formed in to “ECE student Association”. The objective of this technical association is to encourage participating and conducting various academic & extra-curricular activities in the advanced fields of VLSI system Design, Embedded Systems, Wireless Communication, Image Processing, and Radar Engineering etc.

Scope after B.Tech. ECE:

There’s a lot of scope after B.Tech. in ECE. One can take up a core job or an IT job, go for higher education, apply for state and central government jobs, join the armed forces, qualify to become a university/ institution faculty member or can become an entrepreneur through Start-up ideas.

Higher Education after B.Tech. ECE:

Like every other domain in engineering, in ECE too your scopes for higher education are decently good. Whether it’s M.Tech, MBA, P.HD or MS one can definitely find an option that works in favour.  A two- year M.Tech. Course can be pursued after B.Tech. in ECE on the domains/sub-domains of automotive ECE, Sensor technology ECE, Nanotechnology, Network Engineering, VLSI design and even Micro-electronics.

P.HD is ideal for candidates who are looking to research on a particular domain in the field of Electronics and Communication. In certain cases, one can also forward the research area during M.Tech. as a research area during the doctoral course. As a P.HD research scholar one will be provided with the grade pay for Associate professor or scientist.

In order to apply for M.S in a foreign university, one has to qualify GRE (tests your skills on the subject) and TOFEL/IELTS (tests your English speaking abilities). In case one has scored really well in M.Tech/B.Tech examinations, can also apply for M.S in IITs.

One can appear for CAT, XAT or GMAT to bag an MBA from a reputed IIM. The duration of this course is two years, and once the course is completed, one can get some amazing opportunities to work for multinational companies.

Career options for B.Tech. ECE:

Some of the core fields an ECE graduate can work are:
Electronics Circuit Design, Signal processing, Wireless Communication, Optical Communication, Robotics, Embedded Systems, Analog electronics, Digital electronics, Telecommunications, Power Electronics, Consumer Electronics, Solid State Physics, Control systems, VLSI, Defence, Nanotechnology, Mobile Companies, etc.
ECE graduates are fortunate to get equal opportunities in non-core fields like IT industry with the knowledge of minimum C/C+ languages and excellent communication skills.
There are many good opportunities for jobs available after completing B.Tech ECE. One can start a career by entering into State Government department jobs. To get a job in the government sector, one has to qualify in the written test conducted by State Public Service Commission.

There are also many opportunities in the Central government departments like Defence, Railways, All India Radio, Airport Authority of India, Post and Telegraph, Indian Engineering Services, etc. One can get a job in Central Government departments by qualifying in the tests conducted by Union of Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

Top job profiles for B.Tech. ECE:
