WHAT ARE THE SPECIALIZATIONS AVAILABLE WITHIN COMPUTER SCIENCE ENGINEERING?

Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is a discipline devoted to the study and advancement of computational methods and data analysis techniques to analyse and understand natural and engineered systems. CSE is inherently interdisciplinary, and integrates concepts and principles from computer science, mathematics, science, and engineering to define a new, cohesive body of knowledge that is rapidly changing. It solves real -world problems in science, engineering, health, and social domains, by using high-performance computing, modelling and simulation, and large-scale Big Data analytics. Our research enables breakthroughs in scientific discovery and engineering practice. Job opportunities are available for Graduates in Government as well as Private sector. The CSE graduates may take up the job posts like Software Engineer, Software Tester, Project Manager, Application Developer, etc. Top recruiters of the CSE graduates include Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Cognizant, Accenture etc.
About the CSE department:
The CSE department must have all modern facilities enabling peaceful study. Studying in such an environment supported by the team of finest Faculty at the CSE department, who are content experts makes the college a great learning place. The department should have highly qualified faculty members with minimum M. Tech. qualification in Computer science and engineering, Computer Technology and Software Engineering. The Department of CSE must be committed to impart Technical and Research based quality education and to develop innovative skills among the students and to enrich the academic activities through continual improvement in the teaching and learning processes. The department also have to focus on infusing confidence in the minds of students and to develop them as entrepreneurs.
Specializations within CSE:
The specialized course provides training and knowledge on particular subjects within the duration of 4 years.
The 4 specialized courses available within the Computer Science Engineering program are: Data Science, Cyber Security, IOT, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
1. CSE with Data Science:
The process of drawing the key insights from structured and unstructured data is known as “Data Science”. Data science deals in converting a huge amount of raw data to provide meaningful insights and strategy. The data is gathered from many sources, then it is structured and studied to gain insights. The professionals working on gaining such insights and presenting them to key stakeholders are known as “Data Analysts” and “Data Scientists“. Data Science has gained popularity in the recent past. Today, data science finds its place in retail, finance, e-commerce, healthcare, and IT services industries.

This program is designed in a way to provide a student with core concepts of computer science as well as Data Science. It also provides engineering and problem-solving skills using computational methods. The students will have an opportunity to learn principles, tools and techniques to model various real world problems, analyse them and discover new and useful information. The prime focus of this program is to equip students with programming skills, statistical skills, mathematical reasoning, machine learning, knowledge discovery, communication and visualization skills.
2. CSE with Cyber Security:
Cyber security refers to the body of technologies, processes, and practices designed to protect networks, devices, programs, and data from attack, damage, or unauthorized access. Cyber security may also be referred to as information technology security. It is important as government, military, corporate, financial, and medical organizations collect, process, and store unprecedented amounts of data on computers and other devices. A significant portion of that data can be sensitive information, whether that be intellectual property, financial data, personal information, or other types of data for which unauthorized access or exposure could have negative consequences. Organizations transmit sensitive data across networks and to other devices in the course of doing businesses, and cyber security describes the discipline dedicated to protecting that information and the systems used to process or store it.

This program is designed in a way to provide a student with core concepts of computer science as well as Cyber Security. The students will be eligible to evaluate the organization’s security needs and establish best practices and standards accordingly after the course. Students are trained in Designing, implementing, maintaining, overseeing, and upgrading all security measures needed to protect organizations’ data, systems, and networks. Also, the students will gain proficiency in languages/tools such as C++, Java, Node, Python, Ruby, Go, or Power Shell.

3. CSE with IOT:
The Internet of things (IOT) describes the network of physical objects, “things” that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the internet. The definition of the Internet of things has evolved due to the convergence of multiple technologies, real-time analytics, machine learning, commodity sensors and embedded systems. Traditional fields of embedded systems, wireless sensor networks, control systems, automation and others all contribute to enabling the Internet of things. In the consumer market, IOT technology is most synonymous with products pertaining to the concept of the "smart home", including devices and appliances that support one or more common ecosystems, and can be controlled via devices associated with that ecosystem, such as smartphones and smart speakers.

This program is designed in a way to provide a student with core concepts of computer science as well as IOT. The students will be able to understand the definition and significance of the Internet of Things, architecture, operation, and business benefits of an IOT solution, potential business opportunities that IOT can uncover, relationship between IOT, cloud computing and big data and identify how IOT differs from traditional data collection systems after the course completion.
4. CSE with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning:
Artificial Intelligence is a branch of computer science by which we can create intelligent machines which can behave like a human, think like humans, and able to make decisions. AI means "a man-made thinking power". Artificial Intelligence exists when a machine can have human based skills such as learning, reasoning, and problem solving. With Artificial Intelligence we need not pre-program a machine to do some work, but create a machine with programmed algorithms which can work with own intelligence.

Machine Learning is said as a subset of artificial intelligence that is mainly concerned with the development of algorithms which allow a computer to learn from the data and past experiences on their own. Machine learning enables a machine to automatically learn from data, improve performance from experiences, and predict things without being explicitly programmed. With the help of sample historical data, which is known as training data, machine learning algorithms build a mathematical model that helps in making predictions or decisions without being explicitly programmed. Machine learning brings computer science and statistics together for creating predictive models. Machine learning constructs or uses the algorithms that learn from historical data. The more we will provide the information, the higher will be the performance.
This program is designed in a way to provide a student with core concepts of computer science as well as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. After the course completion, the students will be able to understand the concepts behind Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning along with the wide range of machine learning techniques such as Supervised, Unsupervised, and Reinforcement learning.
